Raila Odinga congratulates Martha Karua following debate with Rigathi Gachagua.

 NAIROBI, KENYA, JULY 20- Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya flag bearer Raila Odinga has congratulated his running mate Martha Karua following her debate with Kenya kwanza’s Rigathi Gachagua.

He described her on his social media pages as a humble person and commended Karua for remaining calm even when provoked .

''Your poise, mastery of subject matters, and staying calm even when provoked were impressive. I congratulate my able deputy and team member Martha Karua. The Azimio family stands proud of your performance during last night's debate. Keep selling.’’ he stated.

The debate was held at the Catholic University of Kenya where the two running mates faced off and made some  allegations against each other. Gachagua accused Martha of being a project of President Uhuru Kenyatta which she denied.

 ‘’ It's true my principal and I are projects, but projects of the people. My principal consulted the people, and I appeared on the panel to be interviewed for the role, not like Rigathi who was handpicked,’’ she said.

Karua on the other hand accused her counterpart of obtaining questionable money leading to graft charges placed against him. The former member of parliament however defended himself stating that he was blackmailed to stop him from supporting William Ruto.
