Several Injured After Super Metro Matatu Overturns Near Burudani, Juja

A number of passengers were injured on Monday after a Super Metro matatu was involved in a road accident near Burudani Address in Juja along the Thika Superhighway.

The Nairobi-bound public service vehicle (PSV), which was headed to the CBD from Juja Town, was using the service lane when it lost control and veered off the road, eventually overturning onto its side.

Eyewitnesses said the impact left several passengers trapped inside, prompting emergency responders and members of the public to rush to the scene. Together, they worked to rescue the injured and administer first aid as they awaited professional medical assistance.

Those seated in the front section, including the driver, were forced to crawl out through the broken windscreen. However, the condition of the matatu conductor remains unclear as the vehicle landed on the side where he was believed to be stationed.

Medical teams from AAR Healthcare quickly arrived at the scene and began offering assistance to the injured. Meanwhile, a large crowd gathered around the wreckage, which was visibly mangled from the crash.

This incident comes barely two months after another Super Metro vehicle was involved in a crash along Thika Road near Ruiru. In that case, the driver allegedly failed to notice a lorry ahead and rammed into it from behind, leaving several passengers with injuries.

Authorities have since launched investigations into the latest accident, urging matatu drivers to exercise extra caution, especially along busy highways.
